  • Out of Step Birds Tour Photo    Out-Of-Step Birds Virtual Tour

We often think of birds as doing one set of activities specific to each season -- birds moving North in the Spring, breeding in the Summer, heading South in the Fall, and flocked together in the Winter. Though many species follow an annual cycle that reasonably adheres to such a schedule, there are also quite a few that follow an annual activity schedule that’s uniquely their own. It this virtual tour, we will see stunning view of the Cosumnes River Preserve during the fall and winter seasons. All while discussing some of the unique species that march to the beat of their own drum. Such as the Great Horned Owls, Great Blue Heron, Bald Eagles, and a few other species of out-of-step birds!

While the Cosumnes River Preserve has many public trails and wildlife viewing opportunities, there are also many areas that are not open to the public. These areas are designated to provide the native flora and fauna with an undisturbed habitat to live and thrive. In this virtual tour, Preserve staff will take viewers behind the locked gates, providing stunning shots of migratory birds and other wildlife. The tour will also include facts about managed wetlands, how they work, and why they’re so important to the Sandhill Cranes, Shorebirds, Ducks, Geese, and other Waterfowl that migrate during the winter seasons.
