Water Sampling

Water operations staff is occasionally asked about the safety of the water in the City of Galt. The City is required to run bacteriological sampling in the water distribution system. These locations are picked by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). The samples are collected and sent to an independent lab. The results are sent directly to the California Department of Public Health.  Along with the weekly distribution samples that water operations staff collects, there are monthly bacteriological samples collected and tested on each well source. Additionally, the City also collects samples that are tested for general physical, general mineral, radiological, and organic compounds. The City of Galt spends approximately $38,000.00 per year on water sampling. The water is tested extensively to assure the water is safe for you and your family.
