Construction and Demolition

  The California Green Building Code requires that a minimum of 65% of construction and demolition (C&D) debris be diverted from landfills on covered projects

This requirement applies to all C&D projects that meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • New construction, regardless of size or type
  • Demolition of a building or structure
  • All residential additions and alterations that increase a building's conditioned area
  • All Non-residential additions and alterations

City of Galt Construction & Demolition Recycling Plan - for projects that fall under CALGreen( over $200,000; mare than 1,000 square feet, or demolition)

HOW DO I COMPLY?

Step 1: Fill out one of the two forms listed above. 

Step 2: Submit the completed Construction & Demolition Recycling Plan to publicworks@cityofgalt.org, attn: C&D, or in person at 495 Industrial Drive, Galt, CA 95632.

Step 3: Record all waste hauling and disposal or recycling on the C&D Recycling Waste Log. Include information from any subcontractors who self-hauled their own debris off-site. Use the waste log to record all loads, keeping a copy of the weight tickets and receipts indicating the material was recycled. 

-If self-hauling and using the 1 page form, waste logs are not necessary but RECEIPTS MUST BE SUBMITTED.

Step 4: Submit the receipts, completed Waste Log with a copy of the weight tickets, or facility report within 30 days of project completion by email to: publicworks@cityofgalt.org, attn: C&D.
