The Galt Police Department is also heavily engaged in community safety and involvement through a number of special programs that seek to unite law enforcement and citizens in partnership. One such program is the CAPS Volunteer Program, which encourages citizens to participate in policing efforts in a variety of ways, fostering community-police relations while providing valuable assistance to the department. Not only does this empower the volunteers, but it also provides a sense of ownership for residents of their local safety.

In addition, the Police Explorer Program gives youths an opportunity to learn about law enforcement careers and also gain values in leadership and community service. Similarly, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) equips citizens with emergency preparedness skills, which may turn into a crucial factor in times of disaster. These programs reflect the department's proactive role in bringing people together.

Further, programs like PLACE—intended to find vulnerable citizens—and the Safe City Program—under which residents may enroll their in-house surveillance cameras for crime prevention—demonstrate an integrated approach to public safety. Through the use of these focused programs, the Galt Police Department not only addresses urgent security concerns but also develops a robust and informed community capable of participating in collaborative problem-solving.
