The Galt Police Department has an 18-month probationary period after the academy. After two years on patrol you will be eligible to test for any of the specialized units in the department. The Galt Police Department has a variety of specialized available for opportunities. Those units include, Problem Oriented Policing (POP), Investigations, K9, Traffic, Hostage Negotiation Team, Honor Guard, Bike Unit, Unmanned Aerial Surveillance, School Resource Officer, and more!

The City of Galt is located in the heart of the Delta Area in Northern California. Thirty minutes away are the Sierra Foothills and the Sacramento Delta.
