Set-up New Service:
Please complete an Application for Utility Services, and
- Email to: utilities@cityofgalt.org or
- Mail, Drop-Off, or Hand Deliver at City Hall, Finance Department, 380 Civic Drive, Galt
Please include with your Completed Application
- A copy of your ID
- A copy of your Final Settlement or Deed for Home Owners or
- A copy of the Lease for Tenants

Payment Options:
Direct Utility Payments
- To sign-up for automatic debits from your checking account, please complete an Application for Direct Utility Payment Program, and
- Mail, hand deliver or drop-off, completed application. Please include a voided check from your account, we are not able to accept copies of voided checks. You will choose to either pay monthly or bi-monthly.
- Monthly - On the 5th of every month (or following working day), your account will be debited ½ of your total bill, or
- Bi-Monthly - The full amount of your bill will be debited from your account on the payment due date.
Online Payments
To pay via credit card or e-check, Online Utility Payment requires a one-time registration. You will need to call our office to obtain your cycle and route number. Please call the Finance Department at 209-366-7150 during office hours, Monday - Thursday 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM and press -0- for assistance. You also have the option to do a one-time payment without setting up your account and does not require calling in for your cycle and route number.
Automated Phone Payments
You may pay your bill via credit card by calling 209-366-7150 and follow the prompts. You will need your account number, which is located in the upper right hand corner of your utility bill.
Drop Box Payments
Payments by check or money order may be dropped in our drop box located at the front entrance of City Hall, 380 Civic Drive, Galt. Payments are processed daily.
In Person Payments
Payment by cash, check, money order or debit/credit card may be made in person at the Finance Department during normal business hours, Monday - Thursday 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Policy on Discontinuation of Residential Water Service as of February 1, 2020
For calendar year 2024, the City discontinued 141 residential water connections in accordance with SB 998. Note: Services were restored.

Water, Sewer and Storm Drain Services
Water, Sewer and Storm Drain services are provided by the City of Galt. An application for service must be completed and submitted with proper identification (California Drivers License preferred) to:

Please be advised that a deposit equal to three months service may be required to establish service. Deposit may be waived with proof of good credit. Complete information is listed on application.
Refuse and Recycling Service
Refuse and Recycling service is billed by the City of Galt and provided by California Waste Recovery Systems. To schedule a bulky waste pick-up, Handy Hauler delivery, or any additional information needed, please call Cal-Waste at 209-369-6887.
Electric Service
Electrical service is provided to City of Galt residents by Sacramento Municipal Utilities District or by calling 888-742-7683.
Gas Service
Gas service is provided to City of Galt residents by Pacific Gas and Electric Company or by calling 800-PGE-5000.
