The Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) is imposed for the privilege of occupancy in any hotel, each transient is subject to and shall pay a tax in the amount of ten percent of the rent charged by the operator.

Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) is pursuant to Galt Municipal Code (GMC) Title 3 Revenue and Finance Chapter 3.36.

Dear Lodging Provider,

The City of Galt is pleased to announce changes to the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) procedures that are designed to streamline the process for remitting taxes to the City. 

The City has contracted with HdL Companies to provide assistance to the lodging community with support for all aspects of TOT; including return filing, payment, compliance, and general support.

Beginning August 22, 2022, the City of Galt's preferred method of receiving your tax filings will be online, through a dedicated website that will allow you to file from your own establishments, 24/7.
